Jean Kigozi, Dr. P.H., RD

I am happy to be a new addition to the HRC team at Cypress College. I am a Registered Dietitian and a Doctor in Public Health. I have a master’s degree in Human Nutrition and a bachelor’s degree in Food Science and Technology. 

These three majors complement each other well; understanding how foods are grown, harvested and manufactured – as well as their nutrient content – can help in tailoring disease prevention and management interventions with a goal of improving population health.

My research interests have been in the area of obesity and youth. I am passionate about early nutrition education, and understand that behavioral change is not easy. 

In addition to teaching Nutrition at University of Maryland Global Campus and Santa Monica College (and now Cypress College!) I also work with dialysis patients. My hobbies include playing tennis, walking on the beach and traveling.
