Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Students Win Scholarships
The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) recently awarded $14,750 in scholarships to Cypress College students. The SoCal ASHRAE Student Night, held in Montebello earlier this month, hosted local students and guests to learn about career opportunities from HVAC companies, see student presentations and competitions, and receive scholarships.
Students Brian Hernandez, Gabriel Chairez, Marcos Garcia, Alex Gonzalez, Petro Fink, Jose Ornella, Sara Benvenuto, and Brian Quezada were present to receive their awards for outstanding achievements. Watching, and cheering on, was Air Conditioning and Refrigeration department chair Carlos Urquidi.
“This is the rewarding part of teaching that I enjoy the most, which is seeing our students receive these awards and be acknowledged for their hard work,” Carlos said. “I have to sincerely admit that this was one of my happiest moments in my life. I hope to have more of these in the future.”
